Brittany Blomberg is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

Brittany Blomberg is a Ph.D. student in the Coastal and Marine System Science program.  Her research interests are in marine ecology and ecosystem modeling.  Her dissertation research focuses on oyster reefs, with an emphasis on restoration.  Blomberg works at the Harte Research Institute (HRI) under the direction of Drs. Paul Montagna and Jennifer Pollack.  She has been involved with the Oyster Recycling Program founded at HRI, and was involved in the making of a short film about the project (  This summer, oyster shell collected through the Oyster Recycling Program was used to restore nearly 4 acres of oyster reef habitat in Copano Bay, Texas.  Blomberg will monitor the reef as part of her dissertation research.  She will perform quarterly sampling for 2 years to assess ecological function of the habitat and provision of several ecosystem services.
